Mr. and Mrs. James M. Payne Jr. would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Elizabeth Payne, to Gerald Everett Justus, son of Richard Justus and wife, Becky, of Mecklenburg, and Renee Smith, and husband, Dennis, of Cumberland. The paternal parents of the bride to be are James M. Payne Sr., late wife, AdaLou Payne, and his wife, Rosa Payne. Maternal grandparents are Sarah Lester and the late Albert Ralph Lester Sr., all of Powhatan.

The maternal grandparents of the groom are Geraldine Whaley and the late Loya Whaley, of Cumberland. The paternal grandparents are Phyllis Justus and the late Richard Justus, of Farmville.
