A man who police say attacked his girlfriend with a knife Monday morning remains in the hospital after being found bleeding from the throat.
Farmville Police Department officers responded to a report just after 3 a.m. Monday in the 1700 block of West Third Street “to a disturbance with a male subject holding a knife to his own neck,” police said in a press release.
When officers arrived on the scene, the woman, who called authorities, said her boyfriend “had attacked her with a knife, causing multiple puncture injuries. She reported that she was able to get the knife away from the man, who then grabbed another knife from the kitchen and went into another room, holding that knife to his own throat.”
Authorities say as officers entered the building, “they discovered the male subject lying on a bed, bleeding from the throat, with a knife nearby.”
The two were transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital and eventually to the MCV Medical Center in Richmond because of their injuries.
Police said charges are pending against the man and the investigation is ongoing.
