Cumberland’s Bapties wins district championship

Cumberland High School senior Matthew Bapties competed with his team in the 2016 James River District Cross Country Championships on Wednesday and took home the individual boys title with a time of 17 minutes and 20 seconds at Occoneechee State Park. Pictured above, he holds the medal commemorating his win. He was also named District Runner of the Year. The Dukes boys team claimed second place behind Goochland High School, and three other Cumberland runners were named All-District: Jared Halvorsen, Hunter Cochran and Justin Stimpson.
