Billy Ken England

Billy Ken England, 80, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 from complications of a massive stroke. Bill was born on June 17, 1936 in Maryville, TN to Marshall C. England and Lura Gregory England.

He graduated from Walland High School in Walland, TN and apprentice school at Newport News Shipbuilding Co. He worked there as a skilled machinist for many years. He then worked at Union Carbide Co. in Oak Ridge, TN.

Bill married Carolyn Ann Dunn on February 1, 1958 in Ringgold, GA. They moved to Virginia and he then worked at Dominion Virginia Power in Bremo Bluff for 18 years. He also served Buckingham County Rescue Squad for many years. Bill was a dedicated Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart. He served his church, Jones Chapel Baptist Church, as chairman of the Board of Deacons for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, the love of his life, sweetheart and best friend of 58 years. She provided him daily medical care with tender love and compassion from the time of his hunting accident in 2006 until his death. His other survivors are his children, Terri L. England and Kenneth R. England Sr. and daughter-in-law, Stacy England. He was an exceptional “Giggy” to his grandchildren, Rebekah Pope (Brian Pope Jr., grandson-in-law) Bethany England, Samantha England and Kenneth England Jr. and his great-grandchildren, Charles Pope and Benjamin Pope; his brothers, Dr. Marshall C. England Jr. and Thomas England (Deborah).

Our entire family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation and love to all members of St. Mary’s medical and ICU staff for their outstanding love and care of Bill.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at Jones Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday, October 8 with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m.
