A communication major’s dream come true

Many students studying communications and media dream about working for a national media outlet, meeting on-air anchors, reporters and producers.
It’s one that came true for Longwood University student Chrissi Venier, of Lynchburg.
Venier, a junior in communication studies, served as a student aide for MSNBC — one of many national news outlets that came to Farmville for the sole U.S. Vice Presidential Debate at Longwood on Tuesday.
“The job experience,” she immediately said of her favorite aspect of volunteering, also citing the first-hand experience.
When The Farmville Herald caught up with her on Brock Commons in front of a stage set up at the Lankford Student Union, she was headed for coffee for the media outlet’s staff.
She met production managers and other staff with MSNBC, she said excitedly at the time.
Venier was one of many student volunteers on campus.
