Truck hits woman downtown

FARMVILLE — A 20-year-old woman suffered injuries after being struck by a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck turning onto East Third Street from Main Street on Sept. 16. According to police, officers charged Kevin L. Meadows, 30, of Farmville, with driving under the influence following the incident, reported around 8 p.m. “A group of people had stepped into the crosswalk to cross East Third Street. At the same time, the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Pickup was turning left onto East Third Street from North Main Street,” said Farmville Police Department Acting Capt. W.H. “Bill” Hogan. He said the injured pedestrian “complained of arm and side pain and was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital by the Prince Edward County Rescue Squad.”
