The Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity depends on the generosity and vision of donors and volunteers who embrace the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live.

One of these crucial groups of volunteers is its board of directors. Members of the board give of themselves to provide leadership, vision and hands-on implementation of ideas. In addition to the responsibilities of family, work and the many civic and church organizations in which they are involved, they make time to serve in their director capacities and to work with the various committees necessary for Habitat to function.

Recently, many members of the board, along with Habitat staff and other volunteers, spent a Saturday morning working at the latest Habitat build on Andrews Drive in Farmville. After a hot morning building alongside future Habitat homeowner Lisa Scott-Hicks, the group enjoyed a refreshing lunch at First Baptist Church in Farmville, hosted by Deacon Barbara Daniel of First Baptist and Martha Taylor, the volunteer coordinator for Habitat.

The Habitat board of directors includes volunteers affiliated with Longwood University, Hampden-Sydney College, Prince Edward County Public Schools, Amelia County Public Schools and Benchmark Community Bank. Board members live throughout Habitat’s service area, which is crucial as Habitat homes are also being built in Buckingham County and a new home preservation program has begun in Charlotte County. The Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors is comprised of President Jennifer Cox, Vice President Jennifer Fraley, Treasurer LeAnne Emert, Kelly Acevedo, Cheryl Gee, Katie Jamrozy, Amanda McKinney, Vanessa Rios, Susan Smith, Dan Weese and Chris Yates.
