Swayne, Davis win awards

Two Farmville Herald journalists won second place in separate categories at the National Federation of Press Women’s (NFPW) annual conference in Wichita, Kan., Sept. 8-10.
Former Herald Social Editor and current contributing writer Marge Swayne won second place for Specialty Articles-Social Issues. Swayne also won honorable mentions for Specialty Articles-Food and Specialty Articles-Physical Health, Fitness, Mental Health, Self-Help.
Herald Marketing Consultant Hannah Davis, who is also editor of The Charlotte Gazette and The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch, won second place for Single Photograph-Sports Photo. Davis also earned honorable mentions for News Story-Print-based Newspaper and Single Photograph-News or Feature Photo.
Swayne and Davis were among 13 women who won awards for their achievements in communications at the annual conference. All winners are members of Virginia Professional Communicators, an NFPW affiliate, and had previously won first-place awards for their entries on the state level.
Virginia Professional Communicators, formerly Virginia Press Women, is a diverse organization of professional communicators in Virginia that is open to women and men.
