Virginia State Police (VSP) arson and bomb investigators are looking into a four-alarm house fire reported at 27 Booker Court near Tuggle.
The fire, according to Farmville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Andrew Goss, was reported at 2:41 a.m. Monday.
“First-in units saw heavy smoke and fire showing from the trailer,” Goss said. “Crews knocked the fire down relatively quickly.”
He said volunteers from Farmville, Prospect, Hampden-Sydney and Darlington Heights responded.
The single-wide mobile home trailer was destroyed in the blaze and is considered a total loss, according to Goss. Booker Court is southeast of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in the Tuggle community.
Goss confirmed the VSP Arson/Bomb Unit out of its Appomattox field office is investigating the fire.
“At the time, there was somebody living there,” he said, but added no one was injured in the fire.
“No one was home at the time of the fire. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation at this time,” said state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
