Southall-Woodson reunion set

Prospect United Methodist Church will host a free CPR class on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The Prospect Charge and the community are invited. Nurses from Centra Lynchburg General Hospital will conduct the class. This is not a CPR Certification, but you will get a participation card. The class is to help one to be better prepared in an emergency. Contact Dot Campbell at (434) 574-6697 or email at eedbcamp@centurylink.net to see if space is still available. The class is limited to 20.
The Southall-Woodson Family reunion will be held on Saturday in the Social Hall of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle. Family members are encouraged to attend, and bring their favorite food items and family news — things that have happened since the last reunion.
Mr. Jeff Smith traveled to Stafford to visit his mother, Mrs. Dolores Smith on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Mrs. Rita Utzinger and Mrs. Pat Smith enjoyed breakfast together at Merk’s.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows were in Richmond yesterday to attend a family gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Shotwell. A number of family members were there to wish Andy, Julie and Kate Shotwell well on their move to the big city of Chicago. It was a happy, but also sad occasion, as they will be missed here.
On Tuesday, Aug. 30, Mrs. Flora Bolt met with her brother, Garland Woodson, and toured the Prospect Community Cemetery to check on relative’s graves and markers. They later had lunch at Merk’s Place.
Mrs. Frances Ollie met Mrs. Flora Bolt on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Merk’s for lunch. They always enjoy getting together and reminiscing.
Jennifer Page Bolt, Alexa Moser and Mrs. Flora Bolt enjoyed having lunch with Mrs. Judy Bolt and her son, Chris, on Sunday following church services. Following lunch, Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the birthday party for her grandson, Joshua Bolt. Joshua turned 15 on Aug. 31. The party was held at the Grove Street Park. There were about 25 people present. Joshua’s other grandparents, Vince and Linda Eikmeier, drove from Henrico for the party. Linda made the birthday cake.
Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.
Kemper Beasley III will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian church on Sunday. The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday.
The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday. Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitlin Hoy will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church, 302 Industrial Park Road, is in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
Grace Chapel, on Simpson Road at Tuggle, invites the public to worship with them each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 for youth and adult Bible study. The pastor is Jeff Spenser and worship leader is Roger Mahan.
