Clifton White, of Cumberland and a member of the Virginia National Guard’s Facilities Management Office (FMO), second from left, accepts a Secretary of the Army Energy and Water Management Award during the Aug. 11 Department of Energy Training and Trade Show in Providence, R.I. Also from the FMO accepting the award are, from left, Col. Charlton Dunn, Fames Rufo and David Hite. The office earned the award in the renewables and alternatives category for installing solar power at Fort Pickett near Blackstone, thereby reducing overall energy demands and augmenting emergency power generation. Way to go, indeed! (Send “Way to Go” photos with names and a description to waytogo@farmvilleherald.com.)
