The Cumberland and Prince Edward county sheriff’s offices are charging a Farmville man in connection with his alleged sexual assault of a minor female.
According to an arrest listing from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Tyrone Booker, of Plank Road, Farmville, is charged in Cumberland with two counts each of taking indecent liberties with child, indecent liberties with child by custodian, aggravated sexual battery and forcible sodomy.
“The allegations go back for the last three years,” Cumberland County Sheriff Darrell Hodges said. “It started in Cumberland and then continued in Prince Edward.”
Hodges said Booker is cooperating with investigators in both counties while being held without bond at Piedmont Regional Jail. The Department of Social Services is also helping with the victim, Hodges said.
According to online court records, Booker was once charged in Cumberland County with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, but the charge was withdrawn before trial in August 1998.
In Prince Edward County, Booker pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine in December 2006.
Online court records do not yet reflect the new charges against him.
