Wondering what will be on the ballot for the November 8 elections? The VA Department of Elections has answers to your questions. You can access information by visiting online the Citizen Portal at the elections.virginia.gov website. In addition to the candidates running for the various local and national offices, there are also two amendments being proposed to the Constitution of Virginia.
There is a link to these proposed constitutional amendments where you can see the text of the ballot questions as well as an explanation of present law and the proposed amendments.
The first proposed amendment deals with the right to work; the second concerns property tax exemptions for surviving spouses of certain emergency services providers. The first amendment would place the provisions of Virginia’s right to work law into the Constitution of Virginia.
The second amendment would authorize the General Assembly to enact a law that would allow a locality to exempt from taxation the real property of the surviving spouse of any law enforcement officer, firefighter, search and rescue personnel, or emergency medical services personnel who is killed in the line of duty.
For more information about this or any other election matter, you can also call your local elections office.
