Full Gospel Church to celebrate 50th anniversary

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following: Diane Green, of Cumberland, Betty Jo Lesueur, of Dillwyn and Tammy Gough, of Wingina all on Friday; Shirley Waycaster, of Dillwyn on Saturday; Terry Sprouse, of Buckingham on Sunday; and Christin Midkiff, of Cumberland, on Monday.
Happy Anniversary wishes go out this week to Pastor Terry and Pam Tolliver of Dillwyn. Terry Tolliver pastors at Saint Andrews Baptist Church in Dillwyn.
Mr. and Mrs. George Dickson and their daughter, Savannah, all of Cartersville, visited the home of Annie May Miles of Dillwyn last Sunday afternoon.
The Full Gospel Church, 5410 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan, will be celebrating the church’s 50th anniversary on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with old-fashioned preaching, praying and singing. A cookout with hamburgers and hotdogs will follow the service. On Sunday, services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation of the church’s history; testimonies; reminiscing of days gone by; congregation and mic singing; and an old-fashioned, heartfelt, soul-stirring message God’s Holy Word by Pastor Mose Short. Following this, lunch will be served in the Mitchel Holt Fellowship Hall. Pastor Mose Short and the entire congregation cordially invites all to this special two day event. Come praying, believing and expecting great things from the Lord.
Our prayers go out this week to all those who are sick and shut-in everywhere.
The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will be hosting its regular monthly meeting Monday at 5 p.m. at Arvon Baptist Church on U.S. Route 15 north of Dillwyn, 28350 James Madison Hwy., New Canton. Please bring your favorite covered dish meal for a great time of fellowship and fun. Following this, Pastor Geoff Bruschi will present the September program. The Full Gospel Church, also will host a “Poker Run” and “Bike & Car Show” on Saturday, Sept. 17 to Benefit “The Angel Tree Fund.” Registration for the “Bike & Car Show” will be held at the church from 11 a.m.-noon. The first bike will leave at noon one mile from the church.
There will be a “Bike & Car Cruising” from 1-4 p.m. with food, raffles and music.
Loaves of Love food pantry, operated by the Seven Day Adventist Church, 2294 Cartersville Road, is designed for Cumberland county residents, which includes Cartersville. The next food distribution will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 from 2-3 p.m. The group will serve all seniors 60 and older, with no exceptions. All seniors have to pre-register. From 3-4 p.m., they will serve all others that qualify. Everybody must bring in two forms of ID and proof of income, photo ID and proof of residence in Cumberland such as an electric bill, tax bill or voter ID, or you may not be able to pick up your food.
