Runners in the community and surrounding area gathered in Farmville to participate in the High Bridge Half Marathon & 5K on a somewhat warm, but otherwise pleasant, Saturday morning. Many satisfied smiles could be spotted as runners cooled down after crossing the finish line. Helping the Farmville Downtown Partnership orchestrate the event were volunteers who were out in force, encouraging runners as they raced and handing out water, roses and medals, among other duties.
