Annual Harvest Sale is Oct. 1

October 1st will be here before you know it, so start making your plans to attend the 56th Annual Harvest Sale at the Prospect Fire Station. A yard sale is from 7 a.m.-noon; bake sale starts at 7 a.m.; auction begins at 1 p.m.; and a BBQ supper at 4 p.m. Now, if you have items you would like to donate for the auction, please call 547-8830 or 574-6625 to have items picked up.
The class of 1956 of Farmville High School held its class reunion on Saturday. Those from the area in attendance were: William Fore, Blondell Bowman, Margaret Stockton, Joyce Floyd, Dot Gillespie, Rita Lawhorne, Jo Smith, Charles Elliott, Kate Shorter, Shirley Fulcher and special friend Nancy Dickerson, and spouses Fred Floyd and Richard Stockton.
On Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows spent the day in Richmond visiting with their daughter, Julie, and grandson, Josh. They had a great time and enjoyed lunch at Panera.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows enjoyed a Sunday afternoon trip to Keysville. They attended the grand opening of 1752 Estate.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith attended the outdoor wedding ceremony and reception of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Gongola on Saturday, which was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marv Fisher.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Pat Smith was a luncheon guest in the home of Mrs. Lois Gager.
Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the dinner and singing on Friday night Sept. 16 at the home of Rebecca Power and Linda Troyer. The gospel singing was by Smokey Wilson and Mark Bishop. Mark is from Kentucky. There was a large crowd in attendance and many thanks to the ladies and those who helped. It was an inspiring evening, which is looked forward to each year. The fun, food and fellowship were wonderful.
Mrs. Judy Bolt and son, Chris, honored Mrs. Flora Bolt on Sunday with a birthday lunch. Other family members present were: Douglas and Betty Jean Bolt, Steve Bolt, Kyle and Jeni Bolt and sons Joshua and Jacob, Ashley Bolt, Stacy Bolt, Haley Murdock, Payden Murdock, Andrew Goss, Garland Woodson, Jennifer Page Bolt, Brandon Bolt, Michaela Atkins and Alexa Moser.
Alexa furnished a hummingbird cake. Chris led the singing of “Happy Birthday.” Flora received many gifts and beautiful cards. Thanks to all.
Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Gary Fiscus, Linda Joyce, Rita Lawhorne, Donald Kellum, Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitlin Hoy will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church, 302 Industrial Park Road, is in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
Grace Chapel located on Simpson Road at Tuggle invites you to worship with them each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for youth and adult Bible study. The pastor is Jeff Spenser and worship leader is Roger Mahan.
