Staunton River offers programs

Staunton River Battlefield staff will present a chance to learn about railroads — the different types of tracks, long distance hauling, coordination of the rail system and what went wrong — from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
On Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., the park will offer a chance to fish poles while floating down the Staunton River in a canoe and learning about the history of the river and its wildlife. The fee is $5 per person. Space is limited, so call to pre-register. Closed-toe shoes and sunscreen are highly recommended. This event will be held at the Roanoke Station.
