NRA to blame for gun deaths

The letter in the Aug. 17 edition (“Trump statement not assassination mandate”) appears to me to be suggesting civil war in the U.S. if there are common-sense gun regulations.

The U.S. Constitution states there be a well-regulated militia, not to arm everyone in the country. Even if everyone in the country were armed, no one can overcome the military might of our country.

In my opinion, the NRA has the blood of every person who has died by gunshot for the past 50 years, be it premeditated or accidental. If our police were not so paranoid of guns, I think there would be no shooting of unarmed people, especially our black brothers. Yes, knives can kill, poison can kill and dirty looks are also bad.

What has happened to promoting love of neighbor regardless of race, creed or immigration status? What happened to do unto others?

It seems to me the only things that are important to many people are guns and money.
