Inez Russell Smith, 94, of Cumberland, departed this life on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Smith was a retired educator with a career that spanned over 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Petty (Van); two grandsons, Van Petty II (Allyson) and Russell Petty; a granddaughter, Jovan Petty; one great-grandson, Styles Petty; a great-granddaughter, Sloane Petty; 2 sisters, Eunice Whitehurst (William) and Kathleen Scott, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her remains rest at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home, of Cumberland, where public viewing will be held Thursday from 4-8 pm.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Cumberland, with one hour viewing prior to service. The Rev. Sandy Carrington, pastor, officiating, the Rev. Maurice Finney presiding. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
