Olivia Fortune, 9, hands out first-aid kits to Blue Ridge Area Food Bank recipients at Crystal Cathedral on Aug. 12 while they were waiting to make their pickups. “Special thanks to Centra Southside Community Hospital and Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital for their donations of materials; Pino’s in Dillwyn for letting us set up a donation jar for people to take Chinese lanterns and leave donations; Southside Virginia Family YMCA for letting us set up a fundraiser to sell Chinese lanterns; and, of course, thanks to all who donated money to the cause,” said Olivia’s parents, Todd and Pam Fortune. They said the donations allowed them to assemble 200 first-aid kits. The spirit of giving generated by kids like Olivia always amazes us. Way to go, indeed!
