A 52-year-old Farmville man will spend 421 years in prison and pay $100,000 after being convicted of several felony sex crimes.

A Prince Edward Circuit Court jury handed down the sentence Aug. 16 to Paul Wayne Bagley. A jury convicted Bagley last August on charges of rape, forcible sodomy, two counts of object sexual penetration, carnal knowledge and three counts of indecent liberties, according Prince Edward Commonwealth’s Attorney Megan Clark.

“Because of an issue with jury instructions for sentencing, the defendant was granted a new jury for sentencing purposes only,” she said.

According to court records, a grand jury indicted Bagley in September 2014; he pleaded not guilty at the time. Records indicate the incidents, which led to the charges, occurred in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007.
