Southern gospel singing planned

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following: Chris Cooke, of Cartersville, Monday; Charlotte Morris, of Dillwyn, Tuesday; and Virginia Doss, of Appomattox, Wednesday.
Welcome home this week to Linda Miles, of Cumberland, after having major surgery last week at University Of Virginia in Charlottesville. She is said to be getting along nicely as of this writing.
Maranatha Baptist Church, located 2204 Tuggle Road in Farmville, will be hosting a Southern gospel music singing at its best featuring “Smokey Wilson” of Concord on Sunday, July 31 at 6 p.m. Come one and all and join us for a evening of great Southern gospel music.
Following this will be refreshments in the church fellowship hall.

Hello this week to our special friends in Christ Chuck and Nancy Fairchild, of New Canton. Please remember them in prayers as both are having some health issues. We love you both.

Remember during this extreme heat to check on your neighbors and pets. Be sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of liquids. The best time for working outdoors is early in the morning or late in the evening.
Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 5780 Mt. Moriah Road, Powhatan, will host its annual vacation bible school, themed “Trust The Lord and Get on Board.” All children of God, ages 4-18, are welcome to attend the kickoff family fun festival on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Enjoy games, prizes, activities, food and loads of fun for the whole family. Vacation bible school will be held Monday-Friday, 6:30-9 p.m. nightly.
The 2016 annual former Craddock Terry Shoe Factory breakfast meeting will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 9 a.m. at Teresa’s Place, located at 15055 N. James Madison Hwy., Dillwyn, next to Sprouses Corner.
All former employees are welcome to attend and pay for their own meal.
