The Woodland celebrated the first of its residence to become a new United States citizen. Peter R. “Roderick” Smithson, seated, achieved his United States citizenship on Friday, July 15 in Lynchburg. Congratulating him in his decorated room are, from left, Carla Carter-Vaughan, Hazel Hill and Janet Gilbert, who enjoy interacting with him on a daily basis. Smithson moved to the United States when he was 22 years old, and said he “loves this country.” We congratulate the Leeds, England native on his high achievement and for becoming a United States citizen.
