FARMVILLE — Work on the north end of Longwood University’s Brock Commons will close one lane of High Street on Monday and Tuesday, according to the Town of Farmville.
“Traffic will be single-lane while pouring concrete,” the release stated.
Disruption to traffic will be kept minimum, the town stated in the release.
Longwood is constructing an “iconic gateway” where Brock Commons meets High Street.
“The scale of the gateway is modest, with low seat walls on each side of two classical portals,” said University Architect Tom Frisbie-Fulton. “It is a landscape structure that quietly punctuates the line of buildings along High Street and provides an organizing entry point to campus.”
According to Frisbie-Fulton, the wall is meant to provide a traditional collegiate feel.
