A woman shot in Meherrin Tuesday morning in Prince Edward County is in stable condition, according to Capt. James Farley with the county sheriff’s office.
The incident, which “appears to be self-inflicted injury,” remains under investigation, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the sheriff’s office. “We are not looking for any suspects at this time,” the release stated.
“This is an isolated incident. I don’t think the public has anything to worry about,” Farley said. “It’s isolated.”
Authorities received the call at about 8:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Schultz Mill Road, Farley said.
The press release identified the victim as a 50-year-old female.
The victim was flown to the MCV Medical Center Tuesday morning from Meherrin, Farley said.
Farley said Investigator Sarah Coen is investigating the incident.
