Maranatha to host The Finneys at homecoming

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following people: Peggy Bickford, of New Canton, Friday, June 17; Eileen Reynolds, of Buckingham, Saturday, June 18; Irene Shumaker, of Farmville, Wednesday, June 22; and Cathy Midkiff, of Cumberland, Thursday, June 23.

The Cumberland County Community Food Bank is partnering with the Central Virginia Food Bank, A FeedMore Program of Richmond will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents including Cartersville residents, on Monday from noon until all food is gone at Raman’s, located at 1913 Anderson Highway at the intersection of Routes 45 and 60, Cumberland. You must have already registered to get food or you must see Director Jerry Seal. All food recipients should bring bags.

Also on Monday, you may apply for USDA Foods if you have not already done so. Those of you who have already applied and have been approved will be able to pick up your USDA food along with your other regular food.

Maranatha Baptist Church, located at 2204 Tuggle Road, Farmville, will host its annual homecoming service on Sunday, June 26.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. with southern gospel music at its best from Chapel Valley recording artists The Finneys from Chesterfield.

Morning worship will be at 11 a.m. with special speaker Ray Lyons, of Bedford. Following  morning worship will be lunch in the church fellowship hall.

Pastor Steve Conwell and the entire congregation cordially invite all to attend.

Loaves of Love food pantry, operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2294 Cartersville Road, is designed for residents of Cumberland County, which includes Cartersville. The next food distribution will be held Thursday, from 2-4 p.m. You must bring two forms of ID, a photo ID and proof that you reside in Cumberland, such as an electric bill, tax bill or voter ID. Due to the heat in the summer months, appointments are recommended, however, walk-ins are accepted.
