RICHMOND — Virginia residents will be allowed to fish without a license this weekend during the state’s Free Fishing Days on Friday, Saturday and Saturday.
“No fishing license of any kind will be required for recreational rod and reel fishing during free fishing days, except in designated stocked trout waters,” a press release stated.
“All fishing regulations including size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions, will remain in effect. If you’re fishing in designated stocked trout waters, both a freshwater and trout license will be required.”
“Sharing a fishing experience helps strengthen relationships with family and friends. It also offers a person the chance to give back to society through mentoring others in the pleasure and importance of being good stewards of our natural resources,’’ said Bob Duncan, executive director of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF), which manages freshwater fishing.
