In April the Weyanoke Garden Club enjoyed the spring beauty of the Hampden-Sydney College campus.
H-SC senior Josh Taylor led the group on a tour of Coleman Cottage, located behind Middlecourt, the president’s home. This building was originally the kitchen and servants’ quarters for Middlecourt. It has been restored and furnished with antiques and now serves as a guest cotttage.
The group then walked to the residential garden of Tommy Shomo, marketing and communications director for H-SC, where refreshments were served. The Shomo lawn was a gardener’s delight filled with daffodils, boxwoods, perennials and groundcovers and meandering paths leading to comfortable seating, beautiful containers and whimsical statuary.
