Pork barbecue, reunion plans underway

Jones Chapel Baptist Church, 947 Trents Mill Road, Cumberland, will hold a pork barbecue ($8 a pint, $15 a quart) on Saturday, May 14, 4-6 p.m. at the church or the NAPA parking lot in Cumberland. Proceeds will benefit a mission trip to Maryland Heights Community Church in Weirton, W.Va. To pre-order call (434) 315-3444 or email ketchup@aol.com. The 2016 Heart of Virginia Festival will be held on Saturday in Farmville with the event wrap up at the Farmville Municipal Airport. Come join in this great annual family event.
Jane Cooke and Linda Miles, both of Cumberland, visited a special friend, Joyce Smith, in The Woodland last week. She is said to be at home now and doing much better.
Our sympathy is extended to the Anderson family of Dillwyn. Lora Rowe Pruett Anderson, 58, went home to be with the Lord on Monday April 18. A memorial service was held April 25 at Puckett Funeral Home. She will be greatly missed by all.
Our prayers are sent out this week to the sick and shut in.
Michael Boyles, of Cumberland, and Jan Varnier, of Richmond, visited in the home of Elizabeth Stone, of Dillwyn, on April 25.

REMINDER: The 38th annual Hudgins Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at the home of James and Virginia Boyles, of Cumberland. All the kinfolks and friends are invited and asked to bring a covered dish for a great time of fellowship, fun and food.
