The 38th annual Heart of Virginia Festival will kickoff at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning in downtown Farmville.

The festival, which encompasses Main and High streets, will be preceded by a 10K run/5K walk at Hampden-Sydney College at 8:30 a.m.

The scheduled evening music has been relocated from the Farmville Regional Airport to Riverside Park and the fireworks have been cancelled, according to Festival Chair Ashley Atkins-Austin.

“With all of the rain we have had and the rain that is supposed to come in (Wednesday) and (Thursday), it is just too wet to park vehicles out there at the airport,” she said.

“We will be moving bands and food vendors to Riverside Park (on North Main Street). All of the bands should be able to play and we are working on which food vendors will participate,” Atkins-Austin said.
