Cumberland food bank has new sponsor

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Charles Yates of Dillwyn (Saturday) and Patsy Miles of Cumberland (Sunday).
As of May, Fitzgerald Baptist Church of Cumberland is no longer sponsoring the Cumberland area Food Bank. The new sponsor will be Cumberland County Community Food Bank partnering with the Central Virginia Food Bank. A FeedMore Program of Richmond will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents including Cartersville residents, on Monday from noon until all food is gone at Raman’s, located at 1913 Anderson Highway at the intersection of routes 45 & 60 in Cumberland.
You must have already registered to get food or you must see the director Jerry Seal. All food recipients, please bring bags.
Also on Monday, you may apply for USDA foods if you have not already done so. Those of you that have already applied and have been approved will be able to pick up your USDA food along with your other regular food.

Visiting in the home of Larry and Barbara Barone of Cumberland on May 2 were her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gibson of Norfolk. Everyone had a nice visit.
Jones Chapel Baptist Church, located at 947 Trents Mill Road, Cumberland, will be hosting a Pork Barbeque to benefit a mission trip to Maryland Heights Community Church in Weirton, W. Va.

Pickup date will be Saturday, between 4-6 p.m. at Jones Chapel Baptist Church or at Napa Parking lot in Cumberland.

Visiting in the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland on Saturday, April 30, were George and Nicole Dickson of Cumberland. Everyone enjoyed a nice visit and the wonderful fellowship.
There will be a reunion for all former faculty and staff of Gold Hill Elementary School on June 3, at Railyard Restaurant, 1057 Church St., Appomattox. It will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The buffet menu consists of two meats, four vegetables, dessert, beverage tax and gratuity for $22. Prayers are sent out to all those sick and shut in.
Loaves of Love food pantry, operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, is located at 2294 Cartersville Road. This food pantry is designed for Cumberland county residents and includes Cartersville. The next food distribution will be held Thursday from 2-4 p.m. You must bring in two forms of ID, your photo ID and proof that you reside in Cumberland, such as an electric bill, tax bill or voter ID etc.
All food boxes are served on a first-come first-served basis.
The 38th annual 2016 Hudgins Family Reunion will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland. All the kinfolks and their friends are invited and are asked to bring a covered dish for a great time of fellowship, fun and food.
