PRINCE EDWARD — A portion of Route 633 in Prince Edward County will only allow for one-way traffic starting Monday.
“Working with their partner, Norfolk Southern Railroad, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and its contractor, Burleigh Construction Co. Inc. has scheduled May 23 … as the official starting date of the Route 633, Virso Road bridge repair project in Prince Edward County,” said VDOT spokeswoman Paula Jones.
She said a temporary signal will be used to allow for one-way traffic on the structure during the work. The lane width will be restricted to 13 feet.
The approximately $240,000 project will include cleaning the bridge’s superstructure, sandblasting and painting areas subject to corrosion, replacing joint materials and application of a new asphalt surface.
The project is slated for completion in late-August, she said.
