AKA celebrates 40 years of service

“Launching New Dimensions of Service” is the theme 2014-18 theme of Kappa Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The sorority’s program target areas are educational enrichment, health promotion, family strengthening, environmental ownership and global impact.
The local chapter celebrated its 40th anniversary in March with a breakfast at Sheldon’s Restaurant in Keysville.
The chapter has contributed to many cultural, community and educational endeavors. Chapter projects include donations to local libraries, Meals on Wheels FACES Food Pantry, Red Cross Bloodmobile, Relay for Life, Girls State, Adopt-a-Family, AKA Winter Coat Drive, Go Red for Heart and programs in nursing facilities. The AKA chapter also sponsors scholarships and mentoring of middle and high school students.
