Mattie Emerson Clements, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She was born June 26, 1932, a daughter of the late John Henry Emerson and Betsie Tatum Emerson. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Bonnie Sue Emerson, husband, Ralph Elliott Clements, and son, John Franklin Clements.

She is survived by her two granddaughters, Martha Tatum Clements (Jamie) of Avon, NC and Betsy Raden Love (Dean) of Bedford, IN and three great-grandchildren, Phebe La’Rue Love, Lennox James Elwood McClellan, and Scout Emerson Love.

Mattie ran a beauty salon in Dillwyn for many years, worked at Nationwide Insurance with her husband and sold real estate. She loved her family, square dancing, and entertaining family and friends at her home place that has been in her family for 200 years.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 10 at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in the Apperson Family Cemetery, Cumberland.
