Logging accident kills 39-year-old

A 39-year-old Buckingham man died Tuesday in a logging accident in Prince Edward County.
According to Maj. David Wilmoth of the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne E. Rose died on scene of the logging operation on Becks Lane in the Hampden Sydney area.
The incident was reported at 7:13 p.m.
“He was found unconscious,” Wilmoth said. “EMS worked it on scene. He did die on scene. It looks like he was caught in a piece of machinery.”
The sheriff’s office, along with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, is investigating the incident, Wilmoth said.
Wilmoth said the logging company is from Buckingham.
Lt. Joe Sprague is the investigating officer.
