FARMVILLE — Recent property transfers from the Prince Edward County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office show that the Town of Farmville has purchased an acre of land for $125,000 from Willa B. Wood on South Main Street near Benchmark Community Bank.
“We had to have it for a retention pond,” said Farmville Town Manager Gerald Spates.
He said the purchase has no connection to the November request from Russell Harper to amend the town’s zoning ordinance to include apartment, condominium and townhouse development in the same area.
In November, the town said that Harper owns approximately 10 acres of land located behind Wood’s property.
