Tigers sweep Muhlenberg

Hampden-Sydney College baseball took wins of 3-1 and 8-3 to sweep its three-game series with Muhlenberg. With the wins, the Tigers improve to 13-6.

The first game was a pitcher’s duel between Reggie Johnson (Dunnsville/Essex) and Troy Elias. Johnson struck out six and walked four while allowing one run with three hits.

The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the third with Gothe batting in Cody Mann (Powhatan/Powhatan) on an RBI single. Eric O’Brien (Richmond/Douglas Freeman) allowed three runs on 10 hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Josh Blair (Virginia Beach/Princess Anne) pitched a scoreless inning while picking up the win.

The Tigers return to action Wednesday when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a 3 p.m. game.
