LU Rec Center rated among top in the nation

FARMVILLE — Great Values Colleges has ranked Longwood University’s Health and Fitness Center among the top recreation centers at small universities.
According to Great Value Colleges, Longwood University came in at number 11 out of 20 recreation centers across the nation.
“Here, students can find 20 pieces of selectorized weight training equipment, 40 pieces of cardio equipment, free weights and a power lifting room,” stated the release.
The center also received recognition for its group fitness studio, two racquetball courts, track, rock climbing wall, ropes course and spinning/circuit room.
The release stated that Longwood’s recreation center covers a total of 74,683 square feet, housing an impressive 7,300 square feet of fitness floor.
According to Gabrielle Gibeily, editor of Great Value Colleges, “We selected schools for our ranking by using a number of sources including the National Center for Education Statistics’ College Navigator, The Princeton Review, U.S. News & World Report and more.”
The release stated Longwood’s recreation center is certified GOLD certified in energy and environmental design.
