John William ‘Jack’ Simpson

John William “Jack” Simpson, of Cumberland, passed away on March 22, 2016. He was born August 3, 1931 to the late Harry H. and Mary Ida Edwards Simpson.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Ruby Simpson; children, Debbie Simpson Pollard (Mark) of Southern Shores, NC and Patricia Simpson Honebein of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Becca P. Cooke of Manteo, NC, Matt Cook of Jarvisburg, NC, Berkley Pollard (Samantha) of Wilmington, NC, Danielle P. Natoli (Aaron) of Wilmington, NC, and Mary Ellen “Ellie” Honebein of Cumberland, VA; two great-great-grandchildren, Kolton Cage Cooke of Manteo/Jarvisburg, NC and Logan Daniel Natoli of Wilmington, NC. He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Virgie S. Nixon, Polly S. Rousch and Frances S. Asal.
Mr. Simpson proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He returned home to marry Ruby E. O’Brien of Buckingham County on April 11, 1953. They will be married 63 years on this anniversary. He retired from Centel of Farmville after 38 years of service to the company on April 3, 1993. He enjoyed life and loved his family and was loved by his family.
He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 11 a.m. in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Buckingham, with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery, Farmville.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 25 from 6–8 p.m. in Puckett Funeral Home.
