Helen A. Toney, 93, of New Canton, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Dillwyn. Born July 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bessie Snoddy Toney.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie L Toney Sr., a son, Jesse L Toney Jr., and four brothers, William, James, Frank and Pollard Toney.

She is survived by two sons, Steve Toney (Judy), and Dennis Toney (Pam); four grandchildren, Stacie Lilly (Mike), Misty Grooms (James), Andrew and Allison Toney; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trevor Grooms, and Brad Lilly; and a sister, Alma Snoddy.

She was a seamstress for over seventy years.  She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and cooking for others.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11 at Arvon Baptist Church, New Canton.  Interment will be in Buckingham Baptist Church Cemetery, New Canton.

Family will receive family and friends Thursday, March 10 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Arvon Baptist Church. Donations can be made to the Arvonia Fire Department.
