On March 6 Elder Antonio Tyrone Harris, of Farmville, was called from labor to rest while hospitalized at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was indeed a special and caring gift born into the world July 4, 1961 to the late Ernest Lee Harris and Carrie Lee Jones.

Antonio was a native of Norfolk. He fell in love with Christ during his youth and was baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church family of God early on in life. He was educated at Norfolk State University and attended Old Dominion and Andrews universities where he attained a Master of Divinity degree. After serving in the United States Army, he was employed as a Cytotechnologist at Portsmouth Naval Hospital until retirement because of declining health. He cherished many facts of life, particularly people, his pets, reading, nature, sports and eating! But the greatest of all he loved was God, his wife, children and the church. Elder Harris was compassionate about evangelism and deeply devoted to his family!

In addition to his loving wife, Faith and his children, Ashton Vines (Jamie), Charity, Joy, Hope and Virtue; left to cherish his sweet memories are his sisters, Angela Harris, Angela Robinson, and Jewel Jordan; his brother, Sean Harris and sisters-in-law, Karen Givner (Maxie) and Andrea Jackson; brothers-in-law, Andrew Jackson (Rosemary), Kelvin Jackson and Faith Jackson (Naseem); aunts, Gloria Jean, Beatrice, Eva Mae (Lorenzo), Golithia; uncles, Nathaniel (Barbara), Le-Otis, and Willis (Barbara); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Amelia Veterans Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13 from 2 p.m.– 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
