Community makes plans for Easter

The food truck from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank distributes food for people in need each second and fourth Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Crystal Cathedral, 16764 Oak St., Dillwyn. The next scheduled visit is Friday. Donations and volunteers  are always needed. Too many of our neighbors have to choose between paying bills and buying food. Maysville Presbyterian Church, 12945 W. James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham, invites all to attend their covered-dish brunch and Easter egg hunt beginning at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday. Bring a covered dish and your Easter basket. For more information, contact David or Jennifer Spears at (434) 983-1817.

Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, would like to invite everyone to its Easter services. The Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. An Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by lunch. Easter Sunrise Service will be at 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall. The worship service will be at 8 a.m. when the drama “Because He Loves Us” will be presented. There will be no Sunday school or 11 a.m. worship service on Easter. BCHS alumni invite everyone to join them for the third annual “Let’s Fight Cancer Together” Car and Bike Show on Saturday, April 16, from noon to 4 p.m. at Teresa’s Place, 15055 N. James Madison Hwy., Dillwyn, a half mile from Sprouses Corner (rain date: April 23).  The pre-registration fee is $10; registration on the day is $15. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of loved ones lost to cancer. Cars will be judged for first and second places in the following classes: pre-1950s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000-2009, 2010 to present.

Motorcycles will be judged for first and second places in Best in Show, in either the domestic or metric class. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and music provided by Issac Randolph.
