Churches plan special services for Easter

Happy birthday wishes to Stephanie Waycaster, of Powhatan (March 25); Tiffany Ownby, of Dillwyn (March 26); Jamie Covington, of Dillwyn (March 27); Donna Cooke, of Cartersville (March 30); and Debbie England, of Dillwyn, and James (J.R.) Smith, of Farmville (March 31).

Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, will hold its annual children’s Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

Buckingham Baptist Church, 24234 N. James Madison Hwy., New Canton, will hold special services on Easter with sunrise services at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall, Sunday school and morning worship. Pastor Doug Adams invites all to attend.

Browns Chapel UMC on Gravel Hill Road will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Children of all ages are welcome.

Let us be reminded on Easter of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yes! Our Lord has risen. He’s alive forever more.

Buckingham Baptist Church, 24234 N. James Madison Hwy., New Canton, will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt for children 11 years old and under on Saturday at 2 p.m. Refreshments will follow.

Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

The Buckingham United Methodist Charge, including Browns Chapel, Hanes and Rocky Mount churches, will hold Easter services as follows: Browns Chapel — sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast in fellowship hall. Sunday school will begin at 8 a.m. Morning worship will be at 11:15 a.m. at Rocky Mount UMC in Dillwyn with guest speaker and former pastor, the Rev. James Ratford, of Buckingham. Pastor Rebecca Cooke invites all to attend.

Sympathy is extended to the Farmer and Blankenship families. Katrina Lynne Farmer Blankenship, age 47, went home to be with the Lord March 8. A funeral service was held at Cumberland Baptist Temple. She will be greatly missed by all.

Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, will hold its Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast to follow in the fellowship hall. Morning worship will begin at 8 a.m. with the drama “Because He Loves Us.” No Sunday school or 11 a.m. worship will be held on Easter. Pastor Tommy Armstrong invites everyone to attend.
