William ‘Bill’ Benjamin Seay

William “Bill” Benjamin Seay, 82, of Mineral, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret Seay and was preceded in death by a nephew, Seay Davis.

Bill served his country in the U. S. Marines, retiring with a rank of Master Sergeant, having been in active combat in Korea and Vietnam. He is the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and Combat Action Ribbon.

Bill then served in many areas of the Louisa County Law Enforcement, retiring as Captain with the Sheriff’s Department with 25 years of full-time service and an additional 14 years as part-time. He enjoyed restoring old cars completing some of the work himself; he was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed moose hunting in Canada. He was a member of Fork Union Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Jean Seay; his daughter, Christine Seay Palmore (Steve); granddaughters, Meredith and Lorraine Palmore; sister, Judy Davis; and nephews, Cary, Frank and Bruce Davis.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13 at Woodward Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
