AMELIA — Search efforts for a kidnapped woman in Amelia intensified over the weekend.
According to a press release from the Amelia County Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, along with local officials, searched for Olene Brooks through Monday.
Grid search patterns and canines were employed, according to the release.
“Since the tragic abduction-homicide at the Brooks’ residence … last Thursday, our deputies have been working closely with the Virginia State Police to track the suspect’s movements and locate Brooks. We’ve been searching non-stop for her, but are now in a position to expand those search efforts and bring in additional resources and personnel to do so,” the release stated.
After Dana William, 43, allegedly killed Olene’s husband, Woodell, on Jan. 21, police say he kidnapped Olene, 68.
William died from a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound on Jan. 27.
Brooks is described as a white woman, standing 5-foot 4-inches-tall and weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
Anyone with information should call local police or state police.
