Reception planned for new librarian

The Buckingham County Friends of the Library invite the community to a meet-and-greet reception for Buckingham County Library’s new branch librarian Rick Ewing, MLS.
The reception will be held at the Buckingham County Public Library, 1140 Main Street, Dillwyn, on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 1 – 3 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held Feb. 20. Please join us in welcoming Ewing to our area.
The Peter Francisco Soil and Water Conservation District has announced that the 70th annual Holiday Lake Forestry Camp will be held June 20-25 at Holiday Lake 4-H Center, Appomattox.
The camp is for nominated boys and girls, ages 13-16, who have an interest in forestry or other natural resources, live in Virginia and have not previously attended forestry camp.
Forestry Camp is a residential (overnight) camp with a structured, academic focus. Campers participate in outdoor field experiences in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest.
The program centers on classes such as forest management, wildlife and environmental protection, supplemented by special presentations by natural resource professionals.

The Buckingham Chamber of Commerce invites all interested businesspeople to join the chamber and attend its meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Rt. 60 in Buckingham.
Meetings include outstanding guest speakers as well as a light meal. A monthly newsletter goes out to all members with program and meal information.
Chamber memberships dues are $35 per year and are an excellent investment in a network of like-minded and involved individuals who come together to help make Buckingham County better for everyone.
Spreading God’s Gifts is inviting all romantics to a Sweetheart Banquet on Saturday at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dillwyn.
