A 49-year-old Farmville woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a reported robbery that took place at a convenience store on South Main Street.
Charlene Read faces charges of robbery and grand larceny, according to a press release from Farmville police.
“At approximately 10:20 p.m. … Farmville Police responded to the Stop-In Food Store at 2003 South Main St. in reference to a reported robbery,” the release stated. “The clerk advised that a white female entered the store alone and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect did not display any weapons, but told the clerk she had a gun. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the subject fled the scene. There were no injuries.”
Farmville police worked closely with the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office to identify Read, who, in October, was arrested and charged in connection with numerous reported breaking and enterings in Prince Edward and Charlotte counties.
“Read was subsequently taken into custody by Prince Edward deputies at her residence without incident. She is currently being held without bond at the Piedmont Regional Jail,” police said.
