Pipeline questions go unanswered

Thank you for reporting on Dominion’s workshop/open house on the proposed Buckingham compressor station on Tuesday from 5-7:30 p.m. at Buckingham County Middle School.
How is this a workshop? As an invited member of the Proposed Buckingham Compressor station Community Advisory Group, I have witnessed ongoing resistance by Buckingham residents to have an industrial facility here.
This attempt to be heard was merely met with somewhat polite patience and the return to Dominion’s focus on design features.
The time spent in small groups looking at color charts and discussing pine trees, vinyl-coated fences and the height of the communications tower — 200-feet-tall versus 198-feet-tall versus 195-feet-tall — consumed time that was on the agenda for “parking lot” items, or unfinished business, and for responding to a large, bored audience’s question and answer cards.
Pastor Paul Wilson’s passionate interjection of opposition to the compressor station in representing his congregations of Union Hill and Union Grove church communities was met with a patient pause and then more of “business as usual” from Dominion.
I spoke to the issue that we weren’t all in support of this “designing” that our Dominion small group representative was reporting.
I questioned the assumption that we were all attending these advisory meetings to facilitate this proposed compressor station. When I asked for a response to who wanted this station here, no one raised a hand.
Who produces these maps? Chad Oba noted that the house within 500 feet of the compressor station property was missing. Quinn Robinson noted that there were conflicting mile marker numbers for the proposed site location. Dominion acknowledged its errors.
As for the public informational workshop on Tuesday, details on announcements and invitations were only revealed after some persistent questioning.
Besides the reference to The Farmville Herald — it appears they are a bit late with the plan for Charles White’s Informant — their announcement in the Dominion monthly newsletter needs to reach Buckingham County residents (they specifically stated only this county. Why not the rest of the ACP stakeholders?) in time to allow for adequate scheduling.
How will the citizens know? And, how will we get consistent information if they proceed to hold the format of scattered information tables and multiple representatives?
As it has been from the start since our first meeting in September, our advice is this: Prove your “good neighbor” intentions and answer our questions.
