Pamplin man dies in Charlotte crash

A 67-year-old Pamplin man died in a single-vehicle crash on Friday on Route 40, less than a mile west of Route 782 in Charlotte County.
According to state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller, John B. Covington died after his 2002 GMC Envoy ran down an embankment.
His vehicle “was traveling west on Route 40 when it ran off the left side of the highway and went down an embankment,” she said. “He was wearing a seatbelt.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
