Lucia Kellett Jones Whitlock

Lucia Kellett Jones Whitlock, of Cartersville, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 15, 2016, in her ninetieth year. She was born February 6, 1926, in Laurens, SC, to the late Talmadge Milton and Mae Vaughan Kellett.

She is survived by two of her eight siblings, Patricia Kellett Jones and David Dee Kellett. She was predeceased by her second husband, George J. Whitlock and her first, Michael Erle Jones Sr.; and survived by their three children, Janice MorganJones of Worcester, Mass. and Cartersville, Michele Kellett Jones of Richmond and Cartersville, and Michael Erle Jones Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Emporia. She is also survived by her beloved grandsons, Christopher Michael Jones and Michael Erle Jones III, both of Charleston, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Mrs. Whitlock will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends for her lovely flower arrangements, for being a wonderful hostess and quietly doing for others. She loved her family and friends with the same vivaciousness that she lived her life. A long-time teacher in and out of the formal classroom, she donated her body to medical science. Her teaching legacy continues.

A memorial service in thanksgiving for her life will be held at noon on Saturday, February 27 at St. James Episcopal Church, Cartersville.
